Fireproof

Here is a movie that I urge you to go and see. The church that made the movie "Facing the Giants" and also "Flywheel" made this movie. It is coming out on Sept. 26. I have checked and it will be coming to Clarksville theaters. If you click on videos and then click on teaser trailer. It gives clips of the movie. I can't wait till this comes out. I know that it has to be good. The other 2 movies were good and Facing the Giants is one of our family's favorites. Please go and see this movie when it comes to theaters and support the movie. We don't have enough good family movies that come to the theaters.

Faith's new outfit!!!

Here is the very first outfit that I have made. The pictures are not that great. It was sooo hot outside (real feel of 105). It is a twirl skirt with poke a dots. Then I put a applique flower out of the same material on the t-shirt. The t-shirt I did get at WalMart. I did take a while to do. I started on it Friday night at my friend Shelly's. I had to ask her a lot of questions since I'm so new to sewing. She is a great sewing instructor! Then I went back over there to finish it this morning. I have started another skirt already for Faith. Faith loves it. I thought that I would put it in a bag and bring it home but Faith wanted to wear it right away!!!

Movie review

On Wednesday Faith and I went to see the movie "Kit Kittredge an American Girl" with my friend Shelly and her little girl. I must say that it was a very good movie. Even boys would like it. When it comes out on video I will be going to buy it.

We've been doing a lot of little things but staying busy. Yesterday we went to buy some fresh veggies from the Mennonites in KY. So after we got home I washed and froze green beans and yellow squash.

Last night I needed to get a break and go for coffee with a friend. I called Shelly and we went to Starbucks. We had a mint choc. chip frappe. YUM! We also had some entertainment while we sat there. There was this guy that came out side where we were sitting. He looked like he worked there and was on break to eat his dinner. He didn't even have a chance to eat his sandwich before he was arrested. I'm sure that he went to jail hungry.
Needless to say that coffee kept me up till 1am.

Today we went and did our grocery shopping. We also went and bought a couple of things for school and then went to a fabric store to get Faith some fabric to make a skirt. I have never made a skirt before so my friend Shelly is going to teach me tonight. If it looks okay I will post a pic of it.

Will comes up with some stuff

I wanted to tell you something that Will said that was cute last night. We were putting them to bed and had done a devotional and prayed. Then he and Faith wanted to read their Bible before going to bed and of course we said okay. (They can stay up as late as they want if they want to read the Bible. right?) Will came and said "Mom, I need to read out of your Bible" as he is holding it in his hands. So I asked him why since he has a Bible of his own that he had gotten for Christmas. He said, "Well, I need a new one, my Bible doesn't always use a capital letter for the word God. So we explained why and he was okay with reading his own Bible. It's neat to see what they pick up on. I just pray that they will always want to read their Bibles.

Gifts that I made

Here are some gifts that I made. They are very, very late gifts. Two for Mother's day gifts and one for a birthday gift all from the month of May. Very late I know. I had to wait till I had a good embroidery machine and then ordered the travel mugs. I hope they are worth the wait. I wish that I could say that I had some great idea to make them but I copied off from others. I have seen them on the web and at art shows and my friend Shelly has made some. They were fun to make and I loved the out come.

Faith's PINK room

Here are some pics of Faith's new room! She loves the pink. It's a little much for me but this is what she picked out. The above pic is her (with her new hair cut) sitting up on her bed. The green doily is from Uppercase living with a pink "F" in the middle.

Here is another pic of above her bed and the shelves next to it. The boxes that I had posted about before are on the bottom self. There is a basket on the shelf that I made a liner for out of the same fabric.

Here is a view of another wall. I found some $3 paint and painted the shelf. The curtain my friend Shelly made and monogrammed for Faith about a year ago.

Here is a shelf and baskets that we had. The liners had some ribbon on them that didn't match so I took it off and replaced it with pink and green ribbon.

Here is a pic of her old laundry basket. I painted it with some of the green paint and now it holds extra blankets and pillows.

Here is her dog's pillow. I made him one out of a beach towel. It already had the pink trim (Dog's are color blind). Then I embroidered his name in orange.

While we were working on Faith's room most of the weekend. Will decided that he wanted to make something for his room out of some scrap wood that Brent had. He made an "A" with just a little help from Brent. He asked me to pick up some red paint for him. He pained it and had to have it on his wall. He is proud of his A.

So proud that he decided to paint an A in the middle of the driveway. This is what will happen when you leave a 7 year old alone with a can of paint! It could have been worse! I did tell him that if he painted another A in my driveway I would paint a big orange "T" on his wall. I don't think I will see anymore A's in the driveway!

Tips for fried pickles

They can be pan fried. Just make sure that there is enough oil to cover them. They don't travel well because once you wrap them up to take the steam will make them soggy. It's best to eat them after they cool enough so that you don't burn your mouth. I have also figured out that the thinner the better. Also I use paper plates. It can get very messy. I love to make these for the 4th of July.

Bad food, good food

Today the kids wanted to make some cupcakes. They made them and frosted them. Here is Faith and her cupcakes. She used lots of frosting and sprinkles. She would have put more on if she had known that there was more in the pantry.

Will's cupcake's very simple, not to much stuff on top!

I have you show you a pic of my weakness. FRIED PICKLES! I love these things I could eat them everyday. I usually only make them during the summer. My sister-in-law, Holly loves them too and will request for me to make them. If you have not ever had them you need to try them. They are simple to make. Drain some pickles then pat dry with paper towels. Then coat in a mixture of flour seasoned with some pepper and salt. Then dip into a mixture of 1 c milk and 1 egg mixed together. Then dip into another flour mixture (use two paper plates to put the four mixture on) Then drop into hot oil to fry. And if you don't want to make them you can buy them. If you live here you can get them at that BBQ place across the street from Logan's next to the boot store. And if you are in AR at AQ Chicken. That is where I first had them. Katie, do you remember all the times that we went to AQ to have them? They were the best. Oh I forgot to tell you that you can dip it in Ranch dressing. Okay, now I am hungry.

Now that you have seen some examples of food that is bad for you. Here are some pic of food in our yard that is good for you! Here is a plum tree. This has been a mystery tree for a while. It's a nice looking tree and that''s all that I thought that it was. It didn't do anything last year. This spring it had blooms on it. I told Brent, I don't remember it having blooms last year, and of course he couldn't remember if it did or not. So in May I saw little green things on the tree. Still not knowing what it was. I was kinda thinking a apple tree but I was thinking that it was to early. We do have some apple trees and the leaves are close to the same. As soon as the kids discovered that there was green things on the tree they picked all the ones that they could. Which left very little. A couple of days ago Faith brought a riped one in and said "this fell from the tree, I didn't pick it." That is when the mystery was solved! That was the first riped one.

Here are some grapes. They still have a while before that are riped. Last year the birds ate them. It was so dry here and I thought that I would leave them for them since it was so dry. But this year I hope that we get enough rain and I might have to make some grape jelly and can it.
